    In only four short months, the New Westchester Symphony Orchestra has transformed itself from a coffee shop idea to an invigorating reality. Staffed entirely by volunteer players, the orchestra gave its IPO on Sunday, March 18 at the revered space of Arts Westchester in White Plains, NY to a standing-room-only crowd of friends, family and curious future players.

    Playing original orchestrations as well as a medley of hits by Cole Porter, the New WSO wasn't limited only to great instrumental music. Singers Jane Buchi, Elizabeth Thorne and Peter Buchi made their NewWSO debut at the same time, providing entertainment to the capacity crowd via works by Mozart and Gilbert & Sullivan. Conductor Benjamin Niemczyk gave an unusual but satisfying performance of an aria from Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas".

    The NewWSO will soon launch its own, unique system by which local businesses may commit to sponsor the orchestra on a quarterly basis. Fully integrated with various social media, local merchants will benefit from not only the online exposure but also inclusion in live concert programs.
